If you’re sick of turning your head to look at rotated objects you need this tip…

New to InDesign Cs4 is the ability to rotate your spread or page view. You can rotate by 90° CW, 90° CCW, or 180°. To do this, simply select a page or spread from the pages panel. Now that you have it selected, “Right Click”/”Control Click” the page or spread, from the contextual menu that appears choose “Rotate Spread View” and then either 90° CW, 90° CCW, or 180°. Your page is now rotated and you will notice a small rotation symbol that now exists next to your page, indicating the page has been rotated.

You can edit your document as you would normally if your page/spread has been rotated. This form of rotation is visual only, your page won’t print this way, nor will it appear rotated when you export a pdf. It is only to make viewing your document easier.

It’s probably best to remove your rotation once you’re finished with this view. To do this, “Right Click”/”Control Click” the rotation symbol to the right of the page/spread and choose “Clear Rotation”.

There are other ways to rotate your spread, you may want to try these:

• View > Rotate Spread

• Go to the fly out menu (upper right side) of the pages panel and choose “Rotate Spread View”
